Turning agricultural co-products into functional ingredients

LEVURIX is developing a proprietary platform that grows purpose-fermented biomass on undervalued agricultural co-product streams — then extracts multiple high-purity functional ingredients from that biomass, creating new value at every stage.

Clean Label Allergen-Free Non-GMO

Two stages of value creation from one co-product stream

Agricultural and food-processing industries generate vast quantities of co-product streams that are undervalued or underutilized. Our platform converts these into high-purity functional ingredients through a two-stage approach: purpose fermentation followed by gentle extraction. By processing locally sourced Prairies feedstocks, LEVURIX is building a resilient, value-added supply chain that turns industrial bypass into a strategic asset for the province's bio-economy.

01

Purpose fermentation

Agricultural and food-processing co-product streams — currently undervalued — become substrates for growing purpose-fermented biomass. Low-value inputs are transformed into a controlled, consistent biomass rich in functional compounds.

02

Gentle extraction

Our proprietary platform recovers multiple functional ingredient streams from that biomass — clean-label, allergen-free ingredients for food, nutraceutical, and personal care supply chains. Value is created at both stages.

Better ingredients start with a better process

The LEVURIX platform is designed to recover functional ingredients in their native state — delivering higher purity, preserved molecular structure, and clean-label compatibility from purpose-fermented biomass.

Clean label, no harsh solvents

Ingredients are recovered without mechanical disruption, thermal degradation, or chemical solvents. The result is native-state compounds ready for food-grade formulations — allergen-free and non-GMO by design.

Multiple ingredient streams

A single process run is designed to yield multiple distinct functional ingredients — including protein, polysaccharides, specialty antioxidants, and gut health compounds — from one feedstock input.

Preserved functionality

By maintaining cell integrity during extraction, the platform preserves the native molecular structures that give ingredients their functional properties — gel strength, emulsification, foaming, and bioactivity.

Improved platform economics

Multi-stream recovery from a single batch amortizes processing cost across several revenue streams — improving unit economics relative to single-product extraction approaches.

Patent pending. The LEVURIX platform is protected by a patent application covering process methods, compositions, and system architecture.

From lab to commercial scale

We follow a stage-gate approach — advancing only when the evidence supports it. Every stage has defined success criteria and a formal GO/NO-GO decision point, protecting against premature scale-up.

Seeking research and consortium partners

LEVURIX is actively seeking partners for research collaboration and consortium development. We're looking for Alberta-based food manufacturers, agricultural processors, ingredient companies, and research institutions who share our interest in valorizing agricultural co-product streams through fermentation and functional ingredient production.

If your organization generates agricultural co-product streams, formulates with functional ingredients, or conducts food science research, there may be a strong fit.
